Riding Lessons for Children

We have developed our own riding lesson program here at Grace Falls Farm.  Our goal is to teach children ages 6 and up the basics of how to ride correctly and the responsibility of horse ownership.  Your child will receive hands-on experience in grooming, saddling, bridling, cleaning a horses’ feet, mounting, and riding a horse in a controlled, safe environment.  All children are required to wear helmets for their own safety.

But ask the animals, and they will teach you…

Including Therapeudic Lessons!

In addition to our basic riding lessons, we will be starting a therapeutic riding program in September 2008.  As parents of a handicap child and a previous preschool teacher, we are aware of the growing need for hippotherapy (horse therapy) programs without all the costs involved.  We are familiar with IEPs, so working on specific goals is not a problem.  We’ll work with children ages 4 months and up with a current IEP.

We are in the process of becoming certified with the National Therapeutic Riding Association (NTRA).  Our primary goal is to provide a safe, loving, energetic environment for our special children to grow and flourish in.  Sometimes, horses make the best teachers!

Each child will spend 15 minutes on grooming and saddling and 30 minutes in the saddle.  Parent volunteers are welcome!
